Kickoff 2015

With the start of the 2015 First Robotics Competition Season comes the start of the O3zone meeting blog! Here we will be posting summaries of Team 4611’s progress after each meeting to keep families, members who missed meetings, and anyone who’s interested in our team up to date.
Today, as previously mentioned, was the start of the 2015 FRC season, and the team participated in a livestream viewing to kick off the competition. After words from FRC sponsors and partners, this year’s challenge was announced; Recycle Rush, or R3CYCL3RU$H2015! The goal of the game is to build a robot that can move tote containers and recycling cans in a “landfill” to scoring zones and then stack them on top of each other. Adding spice to the competition is the fact that a robot no longer has a size requirement while not in transit; as long as it can be packed into the transit boxed, it can expand to any size once in a match.
After viewing the livestream, O3zone moved to start preparing for the build season ahead by brainstorming designs, making strategies, setting up programming machines, salvaging parts from last year’s robot, setting up scale models, and perhaps most importantly, starting this blog. The future is promising and bright, and the team can’t wait to start on our latest bot!
