Ozone continues to prepare for this year’s season. The design team continued to create material lists for game pieces and parts of the field that the fabrication team needs in order to construct them this weekend. They are also creating idea lists, in order of priority, of what they want to prototype with the fabrication and drafting teams. Mock versions of ball shooters and collectors will be created and tested soon. Ozone has been watching YouTube videos of other teams and engineers and outside of meetings to gain possible ideas.

The electrical team took of the board from last year’s practice robot so they could use parts on it, such as pneumatic mechanisms and victors, for the new sleds. They have been working with coders to test old roboRIOs and update them. They have also been teaching new members about heat shrink, deburring, and drilling while building the 2 new electrical boards and parts for them.

The fabrication team continues to build the new chasises and place omni wheels on them. The drivers station is almost finished being constructed as well.

Developments continue to be made on our rope climbing prototypes. Our idea is to have a cylinder that grabs the rope and spins into the robot. While our current mechanisms work to pull up 120 lbs, they do not always grab onto the rope by themselves. Recognizing that we can bring our own custom rope, fabricators have built a mechanism with screws that latch onto a loop in the rope. This works from some angles but not others.
The drive team explained to new members how the driving p
rogram works and invited them to try driving the robot themselves. New members will make the decision in the near future if they would like to ‘intern’ with them for a day. They will hold tryouts later this season. They have also been working on mapping out the field in the limited space we have in the band room.
